Take a tour around the Estate

When we came across Tekanda it was an abandoned tea and coconut estate with nothing but a derelict shed and an old bell. Over the last few years, our estate team has worked tirelessly to breathe life back into the land. 

We have planted a large number of new tea trees and scores of young indigenous rainforest trees to further develop the biodiversity of the land. We now produce pepper and cinnamon in addition to tea, coconut and our kitchen garden gros the bulk of the vegetables, salads, herbs and spices that we use in the Lodge kitchen. We have now planted an extensive fruit orchard and begun work on a botantical garden!

The entire estate is organic.

We are blessed with remarkable wildlife, flora and fauna including a resident family of the endangered Purple-faced Langur Monkey, Mongoose, Asian Palm Civets and Wild Boar. Tekanda is also bird watchers’ dream and White-bellied Sea Eagle, Brahminy Kite, Blue-tailed Bee-eater, Jerdon's Baza, Kingfisher and the Asian Paradise Flycatcher are regular visitors.
