A warm and informal environment
surrounded by natural beauty

Tekanda Lodge was designed to be high-quality and low-impact. Maintaining a positive and respectful relationship with the people and environment around us is central to all that we do.

We, Richard and Charlie, have always enjoyed welcoming people into our home and want every guest to feel part of the Tekanda family.

We opened the Lodge not just as a place to stay, but as a home away from home. So, whether it is gathering around the communal table for dinner or simply joining us in day-to-day life around the estate, you will feel more than just a guest.

Sustainability and community

We work with local farmers, artisans, and organisations wherever possible to ensure that our practices and initiatives have a positive impact on the environment and the people who call the island home.

From the handmade furniture to our thatched roofs made from Sri Lankan iluk, Tekanda Lodge was designed and built locally.

The Lodge is grid connected but our solar power takes most of the energy strain and the estate’s well-drawn water is filtered to mountain spring clarity.  Wherever possible we try to recruit our staff from surrounding villages with whom we enjoy an excellent relationship.
